ScaleStick
The ScaleStick is a unique patented (U.S. Patent No. 5,580,448)
HydroBlend anti-scale/corrosion dispensing system which was developed to a handle a variety of applications. The ScaleStick offers the same unparalleled scale prevention and corrosion protection as do the other HydroBlend systems.
The ScaleStick was primarily developed for low flow applications where the average water flow rate is less than 1 gpm.
Unlike the other HydroBlend products, the ScaleStick uses a standard prefilter head as opposed to the special flow-through delivery heads utilized by the other HydroBlend units. Like the other units, a simple glance at the clear housing lets one know when the ScaleStick needs changing.
Unlike standard phosphates, HydroBlend is unaffected by high temperatures, thus providing effective treatment for Booster Heaters and Dish Machines.

Treatment capacities for the ScaleStick range from 3,000 to 6,000 gallons depending on the application and water usage characteristics. The ScaleStick will not only prevent formation of new limescale deposits in equipment, it will remove existing scale over prolonged use.
In many applications where water treatment systems are already in use, but effective scale prevention is still needed, the ScaleStick can be placed in an existing 10" pre-filter housing. The housing may have been used for sediment filtration or taste and odor filtration. In order to maintain the water quality, a special wrap-around sediment filter or carbon block filter can be used in conjunction with the ScaleStick in the same 10" housing. This allows the introduction of effective scale/corrosion prevention without sacrificing existing sediment or taste & odor removal.
In new installations, this feature allows for one 10" filter housing to provide both scale/corrosion prevention and sediment/taste & odor removal. This ScaleStick / wrap-around configuration also provides a cost and space savings. For example: A ScaleStick with a carbon block warp-around filter would provide
- Scale and corrosion prevention
- Chlorine taste & odor removal, and
- Sediment filtration.
This would be the ideal treatment for coffee &
espresso machines as well as
ice machines.
The wrap-around filters will fit around the ScaleStick and also will also be removable allowing filter changes as needed. This means that if the carbon block is spent but 1/2 of the ScaleStick still remains, only the carbon block is replaced.

ScaleStick XLThe SS-XL is used In applications where the water flow or usage requirements exceed the limits of the standard ScaleStick. The SS-XL contains more than twice the HydroBlend product than the standard ScaleStick, and increased surface area results in proper feed rates in higher flow applications including multiple equipment installations. |
