HydroBlend

HydroBlend
is a unique composition blended to exhibit superior limescale (calcium carbonate) prevention and corrosion control.

BASIC WATER CHARACTERISTICS

Water is the universal solvent. It will attempt to dissolve and take into solution anything it comes in contact with. Most water we use, whether from a municipal or private source, is either ground water, surface water, or a mixture of both. Since water will attempt to dissolve everything it comes in contact with, many dissolved minerals will be found in water supplies. The amount of dissolved solids present in a water supply will depend on a variety of factors. Ground or surface water, the types of minerals in contact with water, and additives to municipal water supplies are some of the factors that determine the amount of total dissolved solids.

Some minerals easily dissolve in water. Common table salt (Sodium Chloride) will go completely into solution at room temperature and at standard atmospheric pressure. Other minerals do not easily dissolve in water. Limerock (Calcium Carbonate), will not go into solution if left in a glass of water on the kitchen counter. It will remain as a solid particle, not a dissolved solid in the water.

When the term "hardness" is used to describe water (hard water), it refers to the amount of "hard" minerals- those that do not dissolve easily in water- present in solution. Limerock (Calcium and Magnesium Carbonate) is found in abundance in most ground water supplies. As stated above, limerock does not dissolve easily in water. However, when pressure is applied and other conditions are right, as is the case in underground water supplies, lime rock is forced into solution and dissolves in large amounts. Since water distribution lines are under pressure, the dissolved limerock will remain in solution as long as pressure and temperature are maintained.

The ability of water to hold hard minerals in solution is primarily dependent on these two factors - pressure and temperature. When the water is released from pressure or the temperature changes, the dissolved hard minerals will come out of solution and reform as a solid particle in the form of hard scale deposits, hence the name hardness or hard water. The cube-like structure of the hardness molecules allows it to cling and build-up on itself. This scale will continue to form and will build up causing many problems in plumbing, hot water heaters, and water fed equipment. This scale build up is most prominent in hot water equipment.

When introduced into the water, HydroBlend works in three unique ways.

1) HydroBlend acts as a scale inhibitor by distorting the almost perfect cube shape of calcium carbonate as it precipitates out of solution. By distorting the uniform shape, it will not allow the calcium carbonate to build up (deposit) on itself. It will also over time remove existing scale in the system. Furthermore, it increases the solubility of scale causing minerals. This helps keep them in solution as opposed to depositing as scale.

2) HydroBlend sequesters iron and manganese preventing these minerals from forming oxides (rust) and precipitating out of solution, thus reducing the red & black staining caused by iron & manganese.

3) HydroBlend combines with the calcium carbonate in the water forming a protective film on the insides of pipes and water fed equipment which acts as a deterrent to corrosion and scale. This microfilm does not increase in thickness as it is continually washed off and replaced.

HYDROBLEND-

HydroBlend is available in different formulas for different water conditions, the one utilized most is the Phos-HW. All of our products are 100% active with no fillers or caking agents. Unlike Siliphos there is no residue with any HydroBlend products, in fact, the Phos-CW blend is used to treat silica and low pH corrosion..

HydroBlend is not temperature sensitive. It is used in applications that go directly to steam production such as boilers or Combi-ovens. Remember, HydroBlend is not just polyphosphate, it is a proprietary blend of different raw ingredients each of which was chosen because of their unique ability to compliment the other in the treatment of a wide range of water conditions-Especially high water temperature applications.

HydroBlend's ability not only to control scale but also control the corrosion that accompanies high temperature applications has made it the choice with many food service professionals.

Because of the unique combination of product and specially designed dispensers we can accurately calculate volume of water treated. Our MDH (Media Delivery Head) and method of caking HydroBlend, plus utilizing a predetermined surface area exposed to the water allows us to give consistent feed rates over predicted water volumes throughout the life of the cartridge.

HydroBlend systems require no electricity, maintenance, or guess work. A simple glance at the clear or translucent housing lets one know when the HydroBlend needs replacement. It is for these reasons that we can say with confidence HydroBlend is "THE PROVEN SOLUTION".

SC-605

The 40,000 gallon water volume treated is ideal for small commercial applications, foodservice applications, and residential applications. It is primarily used in residential applications where a replacement cartridge will last approximately 8 to10 months depending on water usage characteristics. The SC-605 is ideal for any commercial or foodservice application where the water flow rate averages 1-5 gpm and does not exceed 20 gpm. If the average flow rate is below 1 gpm, use the ScaleStick.

SC-610

The 80,000 gallon water volume treated is ideal for small commercial and food service applications. It is primarily used in applications where the water flow rate averages 3-7 gpm and does not exceed 20 gpm. It is not used much in residential applications since water flow rates rarely exceed 5 gpm. The higher flow rates are required in order to use the entire cartridge.

SC-610 HBW

The HBW is used in hot water feed applications where the incoming feed water is heated. This unit is used in foodservice applications after the hot water heater and before the booster heater feeding the dishwasher. It is the only unit which is not available in a clear housing. When possible, use a SC-610 on the hot water heater feed line. This will protect not only the booster heater and dishwasher, but the hot water heater as well, and will allow for visual checks of the product level.

SC-1.0 & SC 1.5

These units are for commercial and industrial applications where high water usage is expected and flow rates average a minimum of 7.5 gpm. The 500,000 gallons of water treated allows for less frequent cartridge changes. Commercial boiler, cooling tower, and foodservice applications are ideal for these units. Commercial landscape irrigation applications where iron & manganese staining is occurring is another application for these units due to the large water volume and high flow rates. Maximum flow rates depend on water pressure and in/out size (1" or 1.5"). Please observe the minimum average flow rates for these units. Treat the water flow rate, not the line size. Just because the line size is 2", does not mean that the flow rate equals the minimum water flow rate required.

FA-605-TW

This is a twin system with the pre-filter before the SC-605. Same applications as the SC-605 but used where sediment filtration or chlorine removal is desired.

FA-610-TW

This is a twin system with the pre-filter before the SC-610. Same applications as the SC-610 but used where sediment filtration is desired.
